Lionfish Breeding Habbits: Infographic

Here’s a little info graphic I made for LET Divers to show just how quickly lionfish reproduce.

Obviously, not all 30,000 eggs hatch and grow up to become adults, however a good chunk do due to their unique birthing methods.
Lionfish give birth to a little sack coating all the eggs together. The sack floats to the surface of the sea and blends right in with the waves and sunlight and is easily missed by predators.

So check out the graphic below. In case you didn’t notice (because they are very small) the little black dots are all little lionfish; just over 30,000 of them to represent the vastness of the birthing cycle.
